Title: Genomics and Systems Biology of Human Obesity and Use of Pig Models

Presenter: Haja Kadarmideen, Professor & Research Director Quantitative Genomics, Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, Technical University of Denmark

Haja Kadarmideen is a full professor, group leader and research director at the technical University of Denmark (DTU), with broad international work experiences. His expertise and current focus is on quantitative genomics, bioinformatics, computational systems biology, multi-omics data integration, personalized genomic prediction of disease risks, construction of gene networks and application of systems biology to human and animal diseases and traits. He is the Director of “GIFT” and “BioChild” Consortiums focusing on cattle in vitro embryo production and genetic aspects of Childhood obesity, respectively. His current research interests are in genomic prediction using machine learning methods and biomarker detection via genomic/transcriptomic associations to disease pathogenesis, disease risks and clinical / treatment outcomes and in-depth profiling of underlying molecular and functional pathways and networks.
