Description of the exam: The exam will have two parts, consisting of 100 multiple choice questions (1 point/question) and an essay exam. The essay exam will consist of eight questions from which the student must choose five questions (20 points/question) to answer. The duration of the exam is expected to be 2.5 hours, though test takers will not be limited in the time allowed to complete the exam. Students should bring pencils and a calculator with them. Cell phones must be put away and may not be used as calculators.
Meritorious performance on the exam: A passing score on the multiple choice exam will be 80 points. If a student passes the multiple choice exam, then their essay exam will be graded. If the multiple choice exam score in less than 80, then the student’s essay exam will not be graded and the student will fail this exam procedure. If the student passes the multiple choice exam, then their essay exam will be graded by two faculty members. The student must earn a score of 80 on the essay exam to pass. An essay exam score of less than 80 means that the student has failed this exam.
