Welcome to the SGLPGE Symposium
Statistical Genetics of Livestock for the Post-Genomic EraThe Symposium Statistical Genetics of Livestock for the Post-Genomic Era (SGLPGE) was held at the University of Wisconsin–Madison (UW-Madison), on May 4-6, 2009. This meeting will provide an important opportunity to share and discuss state-of-the-art bioinformatics and statistical genomics methodologies as applied to livestock and companion animals. The symposium will feature invited speakers from around the world and will also provide an opportunity for delegates to present posters with their latest research and to exchange ideas and perspectives for application in the genetic improvement of agriculturally important animal species.
The purpose of the SGLPGE Symposium is to bring together international researchers and industry representatives who seek updated information on experimental design and data mining techniques for research using high throughput genomic technologies for the study of cells and organ systems that underlie economically relevant phenotypes, as well as the application of such technologies for the genetic improvement of agricultural animals. Featured focal areas of the guest speakers and delegates will be Animal Functional Genomics, Systems Biology, Whole Genome Enabled Animal Selection, and Whole Genome Association Analysis.
