National North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge
It is our privilege to invite students with senior standing and juniors accepted into Vet School to apply for one of four spots on the UW-Madison team to compete at the annual North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge National Contest. Next year’s event is scheduled to be held in Syracuse, New York on April 9 – 11, 2015 and will be hosted by the North East Region.
The NAIDC offers a two-day competition that enables four-person teams to evaluate a well-managed dairy farm business and then recommend management enhancements to a panel of judges comprised of industry and academic professionals. This has become the premier dairy event in the country for undergraduate students. Dairy industry leaders recognize that this contest attracts the top students from every major undergraduate dairy program in the US and Canada. This contest not only lets you show your skills, but also provides the opportunity for you to mingle with industry people who are looking for students interested in careers in the dairy industry.
Team selection is competitive. Students must complete a skills assessment form. Applicants will be chosen based on academic qualifications, dairy management knowledge and an oral examination.
Teams from 32 Universities participate each year. UW-Madison has achieved a record of
excellence in prior NAIDC National Contests. Apply now to contribute to this Badger tradition and to gain a special undergraduate experience.Travel, hotel and meals are covered by the UW-Dairy Science department and NAIDC.
