Background

The world's premier research unit in Dairy Heifer growth and environmental impacts of dairying is located in North Central Wisconsin. With modern facilities constructed during the first decade of the 2000's, the Marshfield Agriculture Research Station is capable of having 500 heifers on research projects at any one time. All young stock for the Dairy Science Department (from weaned calves to springing yearlings) are reared at the Marshfield Station. Additionally, beginning in 2011, the Marshfield Station will milk 128 cows. These facilities will allow researchers to have focused projects on improving profitability of heifer rearing and research concerning environmentally sound dairy herd management.

For facility information and/or to schedule a tour please contact the Research Station Office at 715-387-2523.
