Marshfield Heifer Facilities

Marshfield Phase 1 Construction 2003

Integrated Dairy Facilities Phase 1, a facility at Marshfield to do research on 360 dairy replacements should be completed by fall 2003.

Partial funding for Phase 2 of the integrated dairy facilities (improvements on campus, expansion at Arlington for lactating and dry cows, and facilities for 320 more heifers and 128 milking cows at Marshfield) has been included in the state budget for the 03-04 fiscal year. A federal partnership is in discussion which will contribute to the Phase 2 Marshfield facilities and will hopefully provide long term federal support for research concerning environmentally sound dairy herd management. Additional private gifts are being solicited to complete the Phase 2 construction costs not covered by pending state and federal support.
